UP-TOWN INDUSTRIAL SALES, INC.

JULY 2, 1947

UP-TOWN was established as a single proprietorship under the name of UP-TOWN CONSTRUCTION SUPPLY by Mr. Tan Tian Huay, a vinegar vendor, artist, salesman and World War II survivor, armed only with sheer determination.

UP-TOWN started by selling imported GI Sheets and GI Wires in a small rented office along Soler Street, Sta. Cruz, Manila. This was a year after the Philippines gained independence from the United States of America.

1957

UP-TOWN expanded its business with the importation of GI pipes, fittings and other related galvanized products. It then transferred to a bigger office in C.M. Recto, Sta. Cruz, Manila.

1965

UP-TOWN became the exclusive dealer of Edward J. Nell for American Industrial Products. The Tan children namely, Perfecto, Antonio and Buenaventura ran the dealership business.

October 2, 1968

Mr. Tan envisioned UP-TOWN to become the largest engineering and industrial supplies marketing organization in the Philippines. The company was incorporated as UP-TOWN INDUSTRIAL SALES, INC.

1980

UP-TOWN moved to a bigger rented office in Shaw Blvd., Mandaluyong City. The company became exclusive distributors of more products such as Snap-On Automotive Tools, Smith Welding Equipment, Ramset Fastening Charges and Tools, Stoody Welding Electrodes, Nippon Pillar Packing and Seals.

1985

UP-TOWN acquired a 4000 sqm. property in Madison Street, Mandaluyong City. This houses the current Head Office and warehouse.

2018

UP-TOWN acquired a 3,500 sqm property located in Rizal Technopark, Highway 2000, Taytay, Rizal.

UP-TOWN INDUSTRIAL SALES, INC. remains as a closed family corporation. Starting with 3 workers in 1947, the UP-TOWN Family has now grown to 263 employees. The Tan Family would like to thank its employees for their loyalty and hard work.
